Safehaven Names Emily Russell, RN, to New Post Developing and Implementing Clinical Processes

Experienced Registered Nurse and Chickamauga resident will work to refine clinical processes for Chattanooga’s brain injury community.

ROCK SPRING, Ga. (December 10, 2020) – Safehaven, a facility dedicated to caring for brain-injured adults and their families, has hired Emily Russell, an experienced Registered Nurse, to develop and implement clinical processes for the nursing team, ensuring excellent care for its residents and peace of mind for their families.

Russell has vast nursing experience in the adult care field, having worked in home health, long term care, assisted living and dialysis.

Beyond the compassionate everyday care given to residents, Russell’s primary role will be to work with Karen Williams, VP of Nursing, to develop, refine and implement clinical processes, enabling the entire nursing team to give the highest quality care to residents.

“Emily is an incredibly well-rounded nurse, having worked with adults whose needs span a wide spectrum. Both her clinical knowledge and her compassion will be an immense asset to our residents and team members at Safehaven,” said Williams.

“Safehaven’s mission of providing care and outreach to the brain injury community is one I stand behind wholeheartedly, so the opportunity to come in and be able to make a lasting impact is one I’m incredibly excited about,” said Russell.

“Caring for brain-injured adults requires much more than medicine. It requires communication, compassion, and empathy,” said Hodge. “Emily’s role here will ensure that our residents and their families are met with all of these and more.”

Russell makes her home in Chickamauga, Ga., with her husband and two teenage sons. She is an avid animal lover.

About the Jimmy Simpson Foundation

The Jimmy Simpson Foundation is dedicated to providing the best quality care for the brain injury community. It was founded as a 501c3 organization by Carol Simpson after her husband, Jimmy, suffered an anoxic brain injury as a result from a fall out of a hospital bed after surgery. While searching for long term placement for Jimmy, it was difficult to find an environment that fostered individuality as well as provided a safe home environment. As with many non-profit organizations, the family saw a need within the brain injury community and stepped up to meet that need.
